Twilio powers SMS and phone call capabilities for your agent. For phone calls, the Abundly platform uses Twilio together with the OpenAI Realtime API to handle natural voice conversations.

How to enable

Go to Settings → Capabilities and enable the capabilities you need:
  • Send SMS — Send text messages
  • Receive SMS — Respond to incoming texts
  • Make Phone Call — Initiate outbound calls
  • Receive Phone Call — Answer incoming calls

Example use cases

  • Appointment Reminders — “Send a text reminder to all attendees 24 hours before their appointment”
  • SMS Triage — “When you receive an SMS, analyze the request and respond or escalate as needed”
  • Outbound Calls — “Call this lead and schedule a demo”
  • Inbound Support — “When called about a technical issue, interview the user to learn about the problem, and then say that we will get back to them shortly. Then send an email summary to me and add a ticket to the support backlog in Notion.”
You can configure a whitelist of allowed phone numbers and require approval before sending messages or making calls.
